Discovery Ecotour!Saturday, July 27 1pm ~ 3pm, 3pm ~ 5pm
Climb aboard our floating classroom for an exploration of San Francisco Bay like no other! Our Big Blue Boat is the 90' Research Vessel Robert G. Brownlee, and we promise you will remember this trip for a lifetime!
After an introduction to this magical estuary, you can help us set a net to sample what fish are swimming through the waters below. We'll help you identify and even touch the fish we see... will we catch a shark, bat ray or any of over one hundred other surprising fish we've seen?? Then we pull up a bottom sample and see what all that mud has hidden inside. Last but not least, we'll peer into the world of plankton, the engine that drives the whole ecosystem!
Must be at least 5 years old to attend, and ALL children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Closed-toe shoes required.
This event is $30 per adult members, $40 non-members; $15 child members (ages 5-12), $20 non-members. Advanced registration required. |
Marsh & Beach ExplorationSaturday, August 3 10am ~ 1pm
Our ocean coastline is filled with maritime treasures, and we love leading classrooms on our explorations of the magical habitats that ring our shores. In 2013 we begin offering these programs to the public.
Come join us as we explore the secrets of sandy beach habitat, then move inland through the marshland and learn about the birds and plant life specially adapted to this environment. |

Shark Day!Saturday, August 10 10am ~ 12pm
MSI loves sharks! Our special Shark Day invites one and all to learn about these amazing creatures, from the Great Whites that swim just off our ocean shores, to the gentle Leopard Sharks that are common in our Bay. We will be feeding and touching our local Leopard Sharks in our teaching aquarium, and viewing information about the vital role of these top predators around our world's oceans.
