The Marine Science Institute offers ecotours of the San Francisco Bay for
businesses, corporations, families, university groups, and other organizations.
On board our 90-foot marine research vessel, the Robert G. Brownlee, guests
touch fish and sharks, sift through mud, and visit the microscopic world
of plankton. These voyages are designed to bring participants face to face
with the inhabitants and environment of the San Francisco Bay while inspiring
teamwork and cooperation.
Bring your church, mother's club, alumni, or other group for a two hour voyage in the San Francisco Estuary. See points of interest such as Mt. Hamilton, a WWII ship wreck, and Bair Island National Wildlife Refuge. Discovery Ecotours would also serve as excellent teambuilding events. Work together to navigate the Bay's waters, catch and release sharks, rays, and other fish, or measure and collect data for the Institute's 39-year fish population study. We offer a unique setting to learn about our local environment while strengthening relationships in your team.
Discovery Ecotours can be scheduled on weekdays, Saturdays, and evenings. Contact us for additional scheduling information.
Most voyages depart from Redwood City. Discovery Ecotours may also leave from San Francisco, Richmond, Antioch, or other Bay Area locations during certain times of the year and by special arrangement at an additional cost.
The Robert G. Brownlee can accommodate up to 70 people ages 6 & up. Two hour voyages cost $2,000.
